Happy New Year

Many people heard the gunshots as we rang in the New Year, reminding us that our surroundings aren’t the best.  One bullet did go through the roof of a car at 29xx Bryden.  This annual traditon has severe downfalls, though usually not for those pulling the trigger.

In the ealy morning hours of Dec. 29th, a home on Bexley Park had a rock thrown through a window.  The Speedway on Main and Eastmoor had several rocks break several windows.

December 15, Panera carjacking, lawn decorations missing and new scam

Late Wednesday, 2 Panera employees were carjacked while sitting outside the business.  Several items were taken as well.

Several lawn decorations were taken.  An inflatable “Santa Rv’ from the cental area, a wreath of the door of a resident up north.  The santa item is somewhat rare so please keep your eyes open.

At Speedway on Main, a man pretended to get hit by a car that was reversing out of the pump area.  Speedway video showed that no contact was made.  The driver, a resident on Kellner, called the police after the incident.

Car break-ins, Week of Dec.4

Broadleigh Break-ins
This morning I, along with the neighbors to our immediate north & south woke up to cars that had been broken into & ransacked between 10p -6:30a. I will be reporting it to CPD, and have encouraged my neighbors to do the same
Harding Break-in
Car outside of a home just south of Elbern
Secondary alert: People have been using throw away cell phones to call homes and ask about Security Systems. The ruse is an attempt to get you to admit you have no system at all. The obvious answer is to not say anything and hang up. Another would be to lie. This is a new way of using an old scam. This has been done door-to-door, or can even be used by a semi-legit business to get you to sign a contract. Please be careful what you say to people or who you open the door for.

Purse snatching on Harding, more …Dec 3rd

Just thought that you might like to know that we had a purse snatching from our home at 2xx S. Harding Rd. this morning between approx. 7:45 and 9:45 AM this morning. We received a nice neighborly call around 4 PM from an individual in the 3000 block of Elbern who found my wife’s car keys and a couple of receipts in his yard. Retracing the situation, we learned that this breaking, entry, and theft must have occur after I left the house at 7;45 AM with my son for a doctors appointment. I did not lock the house at that time and left my wife upstairs and the dog downstairs. She said that the dog went a little crazy around 8:45ish (but it’s not unusual for him to bark like crazy). Once we got the call this afternoon, we realized that someone must have come into the house, disturbed the dog, but grabbed the purse and ran. We’ve subsequently found a few receipts around the neighborhood, but if anyone finds a Fossil purse, a wallet or credit cards, and a Ford car key (yikes!) please send them our way. We found a trail of receipts across Elbern, up Eastmoor Blvd, turning East onto Medway. But lost any signs at that point.
We will be locking the door from now on!!

Crime for the week ending Nov. 14

The was a house broken into on Brookside, south of Fair.  This would be the same house where the intruder was intercepted by the homeowner back in early August.  This time, a laptop and a TV were taken.

We had this on Kellner, north of Dale, Victim stated that she was sitting in
the drivers seat of her car in her driveway at listed address. Victim stated
that suspect approached her from the roadway and came to her drivers window, the
suspect then brandished a knife in his left hand and told her ” ***** give me
all your money.” Victim stated that she looked at the suspect and saw that she
did not know who it was and then threw her car in reverse and almost struck the
suspect. Victim stated that she attempted to follow the suspect in her car but
lost him around James and Dale.

There was a car stolen near Eastmoor and Fair, and a robbery on S. Broadleigh where some nice jewlery/watches were taken.  Another robbery happened on Kellner near Broad.

To the south, there were robberies on Easthaven, Astor and Main St.
